RESOLUTION 046 – IMPORTANT UPDATE TO WELL REGISTRATION & METERING POLICY
On Oct. 14, 2026, the Carpinteria Groundwater Sustainability Agency board of directors updated the Well Registration and Metering Policy to extend deadlines and refine recommended flowmeters and vendors to improve compatibility with the Advanced Metering Infrastructure (AMI) system. Read policy changes below to ensure compliance.
Policy Changes
- The flowmeter installation deadline has been extended to Dec. 31, 2026. Noncompliance penalties apply after Jan. 1, 2027.
- The recommended list of compatible flowmeters has been updated. (SEE HERE)
- NEW REQUIREMENT: Customers must fill out monthly flowmeter logs (HERE) until establishing an online account with a verified flowmeter.
- Fiscal year 2028 groundwater extraction fees will be based on FY 2025 crop-based estimates. Requests for adjustments are due Feb. 28, 2027.
- Fiscal year 2029 groundwater extraction fees will be based on metered groundwater use.
