Funding the Carpinteria GSA

Grant Funding: The higher basin priority qualified the Carpinteria Basin for grant funding for groundwater sustainability projects including GSP development. A grant of $1.9M from Department of Water Resources was awarded to the Carpinteria Valley Water District for GSP development and planning on behalf of the Carpinteria GSA in early 2020. The Grant will be used to complete the GSP development process and result in a completed GSP for the Carpinteria Basin as well as a new groundwater monitoring well.

GSA Fee: Carpinteria GSA operations and administrative costs are funded by revenues from users of the basin including all overlying parcels on a per acre basis. The GSA Fee for fiscal year 2024 is $68.00 per acre. Starting in fiscal year 2025 the GSA will use pumping values to determine the fee for properties using groundwater. This includes CVWD wells and private wells. If a property does not use groundwater it will no longer be charge the fee. Notice will be mailed in April of 2024 about the new fee.
