Sustainable Groundwater Management Act (SGMA) Notice of Public Meeting for the Purposes of Forming a Groundwater Sustainability Agency (GSA)
Carpinteria Valley Water District, the City of Carpinteria, the Santa Barbara County Water Agency and the County of Ventura collectively are forming a Joint Powers Authority called the Carpinteria Groundwater Sustainability Agency (Agency) for the purposes of forming a Groundwater Sustainability Agency (GSA) as define by the Sustainable Groundwater Management Act (SGMA). The first Board meeting of the new Agency will be held February 7th at Noon at the Carpinteria Valley Water District offices, 1301 Santa Ynez Ave in Carpinteria. This meeting will serve as a public hearing required by Water Code Section 10723 (b) for the new agency to be designated as the GSA for Carpinteria Groundwater Basin under the SGMA. At this meeting of the Board of Directors, the matter of GSA designation will be considered by the Board and public comment will be heard. After the public hearing the Board of Directors will have the option to adopt a Resolution authorizing the designation of the new Agency as the GSA.
